I have taken the kids to Palm Springs twice in the past couple months and it’s fast becoming my favorite place! It’s just a little over an hour away so the perfect little getaway for Spring Break or a long weekend.  I can’t wait to bring Matt with us… I know that he will love it!

Each visit has just been 2 nights so we haven’t gotten to even see a fraction of what there is to enjoy in the Greater Palm Springs area but each one is as fun and different as the next!

Last week while we were there we stopped by the Moorten Botanical Garden and Cactarium.  It is open every day except Wednesdays and guests can pop in and purchase from their amazing selection of succulents, cacti and other desert native plants any time.  If you want to head right and stroll the Garden and Cactarium there is a small charge but it is well worth it!  It was beautiful!   The kids enjoyed reading up on the native species of plants and I enjoyed taking some photos of them while they strolled around.

The owner, Clark Moorten, was friendly and knowledgeable!   His parents owned this nursery and according to PalmSprings.com “were friends of Walt Disney at his Palm Springs Smoke Tree Ranch. They consulted Disney to help design the western theme of Frontierland at his new amusement park which later became Disneyland.”

Have I mentioned how much I love the early to mid-century history of Palm Springs? So fascinating!

We stopped back by the next day before heading home to grab some new succulents for our home.  They have a beautiful little building and grassy area that are often rented out for weddings.  I can imagine how absolutely stunning that might be!
